How Can EFT be Used to Solve Problems ?

by Vlasta Kuster

Emotions are an important part of life and occur in all areas of it. You can use EFT tapping to solve problems anywhere where negative emotional states can have a negative impact on your quality of life.

To give you an idea of what I mean, here is a partial list of areas in which tapping can be used effectively (I am sure you will discover others for yourself as well):

What Problems Can be Solved by EFT ?

  • Various fears, such as fear of illness, death, driving a car, flying, public speaking, and so forth
  • Anger, sadness, and other afflictive emotions
  • Complex emotional conflicts, such as anxiety and panic attacks, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and so on
  • Overeating and other addictions
  • Enhancing athletic performance or success in business
  • Improving self-confidence

  • Better health
  • Partner relationships
  • Productivity at work

  • In children, the fear of going to school and/or of interacting with peers
  • Teenage emotional crises of all types

STEP 1: Describe The Negative Feeling And Start Tapping.

Describe the emotion itself — e.g. fear, upset, worry, anxiety, sadness, anger, disappointment, etc.

Or describe the physical discomfort being experienced, such as

  • stomach pain,
  • a lump in the throat,
  • tension in the chest, back pain, and so forth.

Before you start tapping, determine the intensity of the negative emotion or pain on  a scale of 0 to 10, where

  • 10 means the strongest possible intensity (let us say your extremely angry) and
  • 0 means the emotion is without any intensity.

Start tapping  on the karate point and say an introductory sentence aloud three times

Start tapping on the karate point

At the start of every tapping session, say your introductory sentence out loud 3 times.

This sentence should describe your problem while simultaneously affirming your self-acceptance in spite of it. As you are doing this, tap on the karate point of the hand.

  • ‘‘Even Though I am feeling _______________, I love and accept myself.’’
  • When you are sad: ‘‘Although I am sad, I love and accept myself.’’
  • When you are afraid: ‘‘Despite this fear, I love and accept myself.’’
  • When you are angry: ‘‘Regardless of this anger, I love and accept myself.’’
  • Tapping along the face and upper-body, mentioning your difficulty at each point

Now tap on the remaining parts of the body, saying a short sentence aloud at each one that describes the problem.

tap on the remaining parts of the body,

Now tap on the remaining parts of the body, saying a short sentence aloud at each one that describes the problem.

For example:

»I am sad. «
or
»I am afraid. «
or
»I am angry. «

Tap on each point long enough to express in a brief way what is troubling you (3-7 times), and saying the same words at each point and tapping in the following order:

  • At the inner eyebrows, say for example: »I am sad. «
  • At the outer corners of the eyes: »I am sad.«
  • Under the eyes: »I am sad. «
  • Below the nose: »I am sad. «
  • Beneath the mouth: »I am sad. «
  • At the collar bone: »I am sad. «
  • Under the arms: »I am sad. «
  • At the top of the head: »I am sad. «

STEP 2: Re-Evaluate The Intensity Of The Problem You Want to Solve with EFT

After completing one cycle of tapping, again assess the intensity of the difficulty you have been describing during the process.

In most cases, there will be a decrease in intensity after each cycle of tapping.

It may, however, remain the same, in which case you will need to describe the problem in more detail...

... or approach the tapping itself somewhat differently. In this case, continue tapping until relied is achieved.

You need to feel emotional pain and you need to feel your sadness, anger and anxiety.

In the meantime, patiently keep tapping until the emotional discomfort slowly disappears.

Our goal is to tap for as long as our negative emotions disappear and the physical discomfort disappears.

STEP 3:  Ask yourself what these feelings remind you of

Sometimes you will need to discover the logic that underlies these repeating patterns of thought and emotion.

Our bodies keep a record of everything that we have ever experienced, and these feelings do not appear by coincidence.

They are bound up with our past experience, and so we have to discover when we had felt this way before.

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • When did you first have these feelings?
  • When during your childhood did you feel exactly like this?
  • Who aroused similar thoughts and feelings in you as a child?

STEP 4:  What kind of progress can you make with EFT

  1. Free yourself from negative thoughts and feelings and permanently overcome anxiety
  2. Improve self-esteem and erase subconscious limiting belief
  3. Tapping for better health, love, and financial success
  4. Tapping to discover inner peace, joy and the sacred dimension of your being
